BRITE Scientific Advisory Board

The BRITE Biologics Programme are pleased to announce the formation of its Scientific Advisory Board, bringing together leading experts from across the biologics, biotechnology, regulatory, academic, and clinical research sectors. The board will provide independent oversight, strategic guidance, and scientific expertise as BRITE advances its mission to accelerate innovation in biologics development, biomanufacturing, and health technologies across the Liverpool City Region.

Strengthening Regional and National Innovation Leadership

The newly appointed board members bring extensive experience spanning research, commercialisation, manufacturing, health economics, and policy. Their insight will support BRITE in shaping strategic priorities, ensuring regulatory alignment, fostering cross-sector collaboration, and delivering long-term impact for industry, academia, and the wider UK health and life sciences ecosystem.

• Professor Keith George – Pro Vice-Chancellor for Research and Knowledge Exchange, Liverpool John Moores University
• Professor Aline Miller – Director, Industrial Biotechnology Innovation Catalyst (IBIC) & Professor of Biomolecular Engineering, University of Manchester
• Dr Nicholas Sweeney – Sir Terry Leahy Fellow of Urban and Regional Economics at Alliance Manchester Business School
• Dr Damian Kelly – Vice President Innovation & Technology Development at CRODA
• Dr Matthew Downham – Director, Manufacturing and Supply Chain Networks, CEPI
• Dr Dan O’Connor – Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI)

Together, these leaders will support BRITE in delivering high‑value innovation programmes, enabling new partnerships, and accelerating the translation of research into commercial and societal benefit.
