BRITE team shares expertise and builds partnerships to combat antimicrobial resistance.
Last week, members of the BRITE team attended BioInfect 2026 at Alderley Park, joining colleagues from across the sector for a day centred on the growing challenge of antimicrobial resistance (AMR). The conference brought together researchers, clinicians, industry partners and policy specialists, creating a valuable space to share progress, discuss emerging issues, and explore practical ways to drive innovation in the field.
Two members of the BRITE team contributed to panel sessions during the event. Our Principal Investigator, Dr Becky Jones‑Phillips, spoke in the ‘State of the Possible’ session, offering insight into current opportunities and the direction of travel for AMR research and innovation. Becky was followed by our Innovation Partnerships Manager, Charles McLoughlin, who took part in a panel focused on ‘Increasing Engagement and Communication in Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR)’, highlighting the importance of clear messaging and strong partnerships in tackling AMR effectively.
In addition, Dr Daire Cantillon, Lecturer in Infection Biology and Therapeutics at LSTM and a key contributor to the BRITE programme, delivered a presentation outlining the background, aims and long‑term vision of BRITE. He also introduced attendees to our Pump Priming Scheme, which supports early‑stage collaborative projects designed to spark new ideas and strengthen cross‑disciplinary working.
The insights and connections gained from BioInfect 2026 will play an important role in further developing our collaborative network and accelerating the future of healthcare interventions. We are grateful to BioNow for the invitation and for hosting such a constructive and engaging event.
