BRITE Programme Gets Underway

We’ve kicked off the BRITE programme – a £5m government investment to help make Liverpool a global leader in biologics had its first meeting last week.

Partners at last weeks BRITE Kick Off Meeting
BRITE, which stands for Biologics Regional Innovation and Technology Ecosystem Programme, is a collaboration between LSTM, our fellow universities in the city, Liverpool City Region Combined Authority and leading industry partners.

The aim is to grow a thriving regional ecosystem for biologics, which are complex medical products derived from living organisms, designed to prevent or treat a diverse range of infections and diseases, including emerging infectious diseases, cancer and antimicrobial resistance.

BRITE will establish a biomanufacturing capability, addressing challenges in the manufacture and commercial scale-up of biologics.

“This was an exciting opportunity to bring together a broad range of BRITE stakeholders with multidisciplinary experience and we were delighted to hear input and valuable insights from all partners throughout the day, which will inform the next stages of the programme.”
